Graduate of BA goes to BS... does lifetime limit change?

Postby jkwe0126 » Fri Jan 22, 2010 2:40 am

I am about to complete an undergraduate level Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. I have reached the 31,000 limit for a dependent student. I am, however, planning on enrolling in another undergraduate level Bachelor of SCIENCE degree program in Nursing. Does my lifetime limit remain "reached" if I move from having completed a Bachelor of Arts to undertaking a new a Bachelor of Science degree program? I am also aware that health professions students are in some cases granted additional lifetime loan limits, and forgiveness plans are in place for heath professionals working in under serviced areas. Is this true for Nursing as well? I will remain a dependent student through the course of this BSN in Nursing program. Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately, unless you enroll in a graduate or professional degree program you have reached your Stafford loan limit. As far as forgiveness programs go there may be something for you depending on where you end up working etc. Check out this link for more details on that! http://www.studentloannetwork.com/repayment/forgiveness.php

I also know that there are a ton of scholarships out there for nursing students. Check out http://www.StudentScholarshipSearch.com.
