status of parent plus loans

Postby rj48 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 11:28 am

I have in the past 2 years received parent plus loans for my son. Now my daughter is going to college as well and I have applied for another parent plus loan - I have not heard from them yet on the status of my application. How do I find this out. I will have to apply for another loan this year for my son for his last year so I need to be able to see where this loan is at.

Also, if I am denied the loans what are my children's options. I am a single parent, and do not have access to any one who could co-sign.

You should check on the status of the loan with the lender who you applied with. The should have provided you with details on how to follow up. Otherwise, check with the school's financial aid office.

If you are denied for a PLUS loan, your students should be able to apply for additional unsubsidized Stafford loan amounts. Otherwise, they might be elgible for other financial aid. You would have to work with the school to figure out your options.
