I have a question regarding Stafford loans and law school leave of absence. I'm a first year law student taking out two Stafford loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) and am planning on taking 1 year off after this year and then continuing my studies, on path to graduate in 2013, 4 years after applying for these two loans. I know the loans have a 6month grace period, but after that, what happens when I re-enroll? Will I have to pay 6 months worth, then keep paying while in school or will they go on hold again, kicking in immediately when I graduate? Is there a phone number I can call to speak with someone about this?

Yes you are exactly right. After six months you will have to start paying your loans. However, when you re-enroll you can apply for in-school deferment. They will then kick in again right after you graduate.
