WAnt to withdraw and transfer to new school

Postby shirimasen » Sat Oct 24, 2009 8:33 pm

I just started grad school this fall and have realized pretty quick that I do not like the program and do not want to continue with it. I have applied to my original school of choice for the Spring semester. Instead of receiving F's on my transcript I want to drop out of this and transfer to the next school for the spring. Will that be a problem? Will I have trouble transferring my aid, or receiving aid at all, if I drop out even though I do plan on attending school in the spring? I have been told that it will affect my aid and/or I might not get any or all my aid- is this true?

Thanks in advance.

Dropping those classes will effect your aid.

Most schools require that you complete 75% of your classes and that includes transfer classes in order to be eligible for federal aid. However, if there is literally NO classes that you want to transfer and they are not using the transcript from that school than you may side step that rule. Essentially you would be going to college for the first time.
