Hey guys. I understand that some private lenders offer public service and/or economic hardship deferment options. I've recently applied to the Peace Corps and am looking for a private institution who offers both loan consolidation and deferment for the purposes of a peace corps volunteer commitment. I have a series of loans out from Sallie Mae, and one from Discover Student Loans. Great Lakes Educational Loan Services handles the collection for Discover, and they do offer peace corps deferment on some types of loans, but not mine.
Therefore I need to find a way to consolidate my private loans into one, and then have that loan deferred during my Peace Corps commitment. Does anybody out there know of any institutions which offer this service?

I'm already aware that my federal loans are eligible for deferment.

Private student loan public service deferment is determined on a lender by lender basis. The only lender doing private student loan consolidation right now is Wells Fargo, but I am not sure of they allow you to defer for service. You can contact them at 800.658.3567.
