Trying to Consolidate

Postby savedboy » Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:54 pm

I am trying to consolidate my federal and private loands into one loan. I have filled out the information on this website, but I can't seem to get anything to work. I have also tried to find a phone number to talk to a real person, but there isn't one provided. I need to get these consolidated since my grace period is running out and I want just one loan payment instead of several. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Yes, there is another solution. Who did you obtain your federal student loans through? Was it a lender such as Sallie Mae or Chase or was it through Direct Loans? If it was through Sallie Mae or Chase, you can contact them directly and they will guide you through the consolidation process. If it was through Direct Loans, you can contact their consolidation department at (800) 557- 7392.

Savedboy, I also had problems getting anything to work on this site with no luck on finding a phone number if it helps. I would like to comment on alexis advice. I can tell you thru experience that Sallie Mae does not do consolidations any longer. At all. I spoke with them 2 days ago because I am in the same situation as you. Good luck and let me know if you find anything else out that may be useful.
