Like so many I was recently laid off after 13 years at my previous job. I am currently looking at going to barber school and going to work in my dads barber shop. My question is how do I apply for a Stafford loan for the cost of the school when it has no code, it's a private school? Everytime I try to apply it ask for a school code and of course this one is not listed? Any advice is appreciated.

If your school does not have a school code, that's because it is not a Title-IV accredited institution. To receive Stafford loans, your school must participate in the Title-IV program.

Your options are:

- Contact the school for options on how to fund an education there
- Select a Title-IV eligble school
- Look into private student loans to help cover the costs
