In the spirit of the holidays and because EVERYONE is pinching pennies these days, thought I would start a thread about saving some dough during the holidays.
I'll go first...
1 - I'll start by stating the obvious. BUY ONLINE. Even if you are the type of person that needs to walk the isles of your favorite department store, you can get the same purchases at a major discount online. Consider the hybrid model - make a list in store of what you find, go home and see if you can find it cheaper. Or snap a few pics with your camera phone to make sure that what you find online is the same. Have a smart phone? Look it up while you're in the store.
2 - Don't be afraid of negotiating, even with larger national chains. A lot of stores have price match polices - you find it cheaper at another store, they'll match the price. If you're in a electronics store, use the computers they have on display to find the product you are shopping for cheaper. I've done this several times, it works. The best part is, you get the value of an online purchase with the convenience of an in-store purchase.
