private loan refinance

Postby cae61 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 8:53 pm

Need help. Trying to consolidate my private student loans. My situation is I had to put my loans in a forbiddence status. I just started my payments and made 2 on time until I had a period of financial trouble and now I am back on my feet (just for a couple of months I was in trouble). During that time my cosigner was recieving letters and phone calls. I was to find out the phone calls and letters was not for the loans I put forbiddence, but there was a small loan that I thought was grouped together with the others and it was not. I got the phone number from my cosigner to take care of it. It was with a collection agency, they told me to send a payment, I did. Now a month later they sent back my payment and I had to track down what was going on. Now this small loan is in default to my surprise. I had the money to send them. I want to consolidate all my loans. I am in still good standing with my other loans. What options are there for me at this time? If I pay off this small loan and it reads on my credit report "charged off paid in full" can I still consolidate my other loans? I have already applied at WELLS FARGO and I can not refinance til this loan is in "good standing" at this point there is no way of making a private loan in default "good standing" .

Please help

Hello cae61,

Right now the best option I know of for private student loan consolidation is Wells Fargo. So few lenders are taking on private loans these days. How much is that small loan for? Is it possible to pay it off in full?

You may also want to speak with the lender of that small loan. Explain to them that you were under the impression that it was consolidated already and see if they will change your status as "current." You can also dispute the late charges with the three major credit bureaus. You even showed a willingness to pay toward the loan which I would mention to them.

Refinance car loans is the solution to get rid of the high interest rate, which the person might be paying on his current car loans. It is a means through which the borrower can shift from his high interest rate debts to low interest rate debts.
