College Food Budget

Next year as a sophomore our son will not have a meal plan at the college.
How much do you budget for apartment cooking?
How do you come up with a budget. This would not include any meals out.
Thanks for any and all help.

One other good way to save some (food) money during the school week is to join some student organizations. Many clubs cater their events or have some sort of refreshments at their meetings, which means you can potentially get a free meal or snack by getting involved on campus. Talk about killing a few birds with one stone!
