For this coming semester I´ll probably fall short for tuition by a few hundred dollars, but I still need money for living expenses. My parents are only able to help me so much since they also need to pay for my sister´s education, they had near perfect credit until 2 years ago they had to file for bankruptcy because of fraud on a mortgage, long story, but it wasn´t their fault and it completely ruined their credit (Doesn´t really matter, I know). Since then they´ve been great with their credit and have been building it up, I have credit but I don´t know how good/bad it is (I have a 250 dollar credit card ive had for 2 years that i´ve never been late on), but I´m pretty sure I can´t apply for a private loan on my own. What are my options?

I know my parents cannot apply for a PLUS loan because of the Title IV thing (they filed bankruptcy within the past 5 years), right?

Your best bet would be to get a job. You can apply for the Stafford loan - if you have not already. Then, if your parents apply for the PLUS loan and are denied, you can get an additional amount through the un-subsidized Stafford loan program.

Talk with your financial aid office about your options.

Getting even a part time job will help and it also can add to your "real world" education. I'm not advising you to get into credit card debt, but if you've been paying on time for anything more than a year, you should be able to contact your credit card company and request an increased credit line. Probably best if you get that job first to make sure you can pay those new credit card bills.

I think you should go for part time job....your monetary problem will be solved....you will get exposure also.....and this will certainly ease your parents......
