Refinance without consolidation

Postby ptilsen » Tue Oct 02, 2012 1:09 pm

I graduated from a two-year trade school in 2010. I had to take out a single loan through Chase in addition to various unsubsidized federal loans. The school is not recognized by I applied for refinancing with Wells Fargo, but they denied me, saying I had to be consolidating two loans, not refinancing.

I've Googled around but I'm not finding anything. Any suggestions on refinancing a single private loan?

To complicate matters, I'm now pursuing a bachelor's degree at a four-year public university, have taken out new federal loans, and my loans are all deferred. I was in repayment for close to two years before I began school and got these loans deferred.

The Chase loan is at 10.75%, which is ridiculous given my income, credit, and the current market interest rates on everything. There's just no reason for it, but I haven't found a viable refi option.
