Newbie needs help

Postby ajrcltmar » Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:29 am

I just applied to the art institute of Pittsburgh online division. I filled out a fasfa. I also applied for a stafford loan. I haven't been accepted to the school yet, but from what I have seen they accept everyone. I have seen too many bad reviews and they were given a D- through the better business bureau. I am worried because on a lot of the reviews people said they never enrolled or signed up for the classes, but were being charged. Their grants were taken by the school and they were billed even though they never went. What can I do to withdraw everything? I am worried they will accept me then the same thing happens to me. I went through the whole process of the stafford loan. I took the test and so on. What do I do? Please help I'm worried.

Your school can't permanently take any money from you until you register for classes and start your degree program. Also, even if you are accepted to a school, you don't have to go there. Many students apply to multiple colleges, get a few acceptance letters, and then choose where they want to go.

My advice is don't worry about this, because if the school is accredited and Title IV (the certification needed to be a part of federal student lending), they are trusted by the government to handle federal student aid.

If you decide not to go to that school, all you need to do is decline the offer by calling their admissions department if you are sent an acceptance letter.
