How times have changed

Let's go back to 1997 (when I was applying to school).

-How thrilling was it to freak out about the SATs

-I took (and bombed) the SAT IIs but ultimately didn't need them

-I applied early to Washington Univ (and got in)

-Before that I was accepted to Rutgers, as I was a Jersey resident

Those were the days. Now, Wash U's acceptance rate has cut in half and they would probably now keel over with laughter at my SAT score.

Let's hear some more recent stories.

Hmmm...I haven't taken it since 1996, so I don't know for sure. However, since they now have the writing section, there are more areas to worry about, so I bet it's a bit harder that it was ten years ago.

After graduation, though, there are other standardized tests to worry about i.e., LSAT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, etc. depending on which graduate school you are applying to.
